Art Purchase Scheme

Gallery van Dun participates in the Mondriaan Fund’s KunstKoop project. This means you can buy completely interest-free installment art from us. The Mondrian Fund considers a thriving art market to be an essential source of income for artists. Moreover, it demonstrates commitment of individual and society to visual art. To give the private market for high-quality art a big boost, there is the Mondrian Fund’s KunstKoop.

The KunstKoop allows individuals to buy art on installments without paying interest. This is because when you take out an interest-free loan through the KunstKoop, you do not pay the total amount at once, but repay in monthly installments. The Mondrian Fund takes care of the interest. That means 100% art with 0% interest.

These are the main features of the Art Buy:

  • The KunstKoop can be used for works of art created after 1945 by still living artists or designers from the Netherlands.
  • The work must be purchased from one of the 120 galleries affiliated with KunstKoop, such as Gallery van Dun.
  • Experienced collector or just novice buyer? An interest-free loan can be applied for by private purchasers aged 18 to 74, who live in the Netherlands. The loan must be paid off by age 76.
  • The loan is a minimum of 250 euros and a maximum of 7,500 euros per artwork. If the artwork costs more, you will pay remaining amount directly to the gallery.
  • In all cases, you may choose to pay a portion of the total purchase amount directly to the gallery and apply for an interest-free loan for the other portion.
  • The term of the loan is a minimum of six months and a maximum of three years. You can redeem early at any time at no additional cost.

How does the KunstKoop work?

  • Step 1: You decide to purchase a work of art from a gallery affiliated with the KunstKoop. You enter into an agreement with the gallery for this purpose.
  • Step 2: The gallery fills in details about the purchase. You will receive an email from Santander Consumer Finance Benelux to apply for an Art Purchase Loan. You fill out an online form and upload the requested documents.
  • Step 3: If the application is approved, Santander pays the loan amount to the gallery. And you pay it off in installments. The Mondrian Fund reimburses the interest.
