Corine

Netherlands

Corine van Voorbergen’s painting is characterized by minimalist round forms that suggest eternal movement. Her art objects have an organic style in which she plays with the media used as well as giving free rein to their own dynamics. Corine’s art is intuitive, abstract and frequently categorized as high-quality design.

With her art, artist Corine van Voorbergen aims to evoke emotions and thoughts. The use of color, the depth effect and the resulting texture arouse different feelings. Moreover, an interaction is created between her art objects and the viewer when observing her art up close as well as from a distance.

Nature and emotions as inspiration Corine draws inspiration from nature. Many times even natural materials such as wood, ground shells and ashes are added to paintings to support her story. Emotions also play a central role in her canvases. To evoke emotions or trigger a thought process in the viewer, Corine van Voorbergen uses a monochromatic color scheme with varied textures.

Technique with a loving embrace Layers of acrylic paint, natural pigment powder and ink are different media from which Corine’s paintings are constructed. A thin layer of epoxy completes the whole. The epoxy reflects the environment back to the viewer, encouraging them to think about what they see and feel.
Each painting features a brass ring, lovingly hand-polished. A process that symbolizes the embrace and continual giving of love and attention. Like love, this frame has “imperfections” if you look closer. You can almost see where each stroke begins and ends.
