Li Hongbo was born in 1974 in Jilin, China. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Jilin Normal University. Li Hongbo is best known for his interpretations of paper. He knows how to use paper as an artistic medium and surprises the viewer. Utilizing an ancient honeycomb technique used in making paper gourds in China, Li creates kinetic paper works that elegantly expand, contract and retract. These sculptures reference influences from folk traditions in China. His work has already been exhibited in major museums around the world.
